Teaching English to low income children in Costa Rica
Spanglish Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in 2015. Our foundation was initiated due to the fact that the Costa Rican literacy rate is 95% with only 45% of public elementary schools offering English classes to students. This represents a serious disadvantage for children from low-income families that don't have an option of paying for English classes on their own. With the lack of an English education at an early age, it is much more difficult for the same children to learn English as they become adults. Our focus is on teaching English at an early age which will build a strong foundation for the Spanish speaking student.
