Costa Rica is a peaceful country located in Central America immediately south of Nicaragua and north of Panama, with ports on both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It's the only country without an army or military of any kind.

Education is one of the biggest investments that the government makes and it boasts more teachers than policemen but the lack of a better English education in classrooms has become a major issue and that's the reason Spanglish was founded.

Spanglish offers free English classes to Costa Rican students in rural and low-income urban areas in the province of Cartago who don't have the opportunity to learn English, creating new academic and professional opportunities for under-served youth. We are strictly a donation-based foundation that brings together public and private donations while staying focused on improving the lives of motivated children who are willing to learn English as a second language.

The project was started in April, 2015 by two Costa Rican citizens who currently live in Texas, USA. The foundation began with a single class of 15 students and through kind donations, we now are providing 5 classes of 15 students, a total of 75 students in the small town of Cervantes, located in the province of Cartago, Costa Rica

Cartago, is the oldest city of Costa Rica, located in the central valley, surrounded by lush mountains and active volcanos neighboring the capital city of San Jose. The province of Cartago has a population of about 500,000 residents spread out among various smaller cities and towns. We began our first classes in the mountain town of Cervantes and are looking to grow into other rural areas in Cartago. Our goal is to continue offering English classes to more low income students, help us continue to grow and reach our goals with a kind donation today!
